It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The time where we find ourselves in the throes of holiday parties, but specifically office holiday parties. The office holiday party is definitely one of the trickiest parties to navigate- I mean when you think of office you don’t think party. You always have to remember that you’re actually partying with your boss and co-workers, so while you want to let your hair down and have fun you still have to exercise a little decorum.

That same rational goes for your outfit as well. Although a little bit of sequins here, a feather skirt there, and some metallic splashed around won’t hurt.

So what’s the perfect outfit?

Now for office parties, since most likely as always these happen after the work day is over there’s never any real time to change, unless you live across the street from your office.

My mom had so many stories about how maniacal the ladies room would get at 4:00 on the day of the annual Christmas party at one well known publishing house she worked for.

Assuming that you don’t want to fight your way thru the ladies room looking for an inch of space in order to wrangle your way into your party attire- I suggest on the day of the party: rock a chunky sweater in white, or ivory and when it’s time to get ready for the party layer it over a simple metallic slip dress or metallic mini (not too mini though!).

And of course having pieces that transition from day to night is always helpful, but in case you don’t want everyone getting an eyeful of your outfit all day long, think instead of career fashion staples you can wear during the day (like a white button down) and adding a party fashion essential like a feather skirt for party time.

Office party fashion shouldn’t require too much fuss, after all you have been working all day. You can looked polished, put together and still have a sense of playfulness. It’s all about finding the perfect balance between your professional persona and your party persona. The two have to meet happily in the middle somewhere without stressing you out.

It’s not too late to make a fashionable statement at your office holiday party, check out these party fashion looks for inspiration.
